JOIN US IN MAY 2024
Journey For The Living is a national fitness challenge that raises money and builds awareness for Holocaust education.
Walk, run, or ride at least 15 miles in one month to represent the journey that Mark Schonwetter (a Holocaust survivor) walked in one night, along with his sister and mother, to escape the Nazis.
The money raised goes directly to support Holocaust Education Grants for teachers nationwide – providing learning materials, supporting field trips and programming, and bringing Holocaust survivor speakers into schools and classrooms. Through Holocaust education, we teach students about the dangers of hate and inspire them to create a better, brighter future.
Individuals can start a team, join a team, or walk alone. Teams can be in-person, virtual, or both! Simply invite family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to participate.
Teachers and schools can create teams for their students to join as a meaningful way to teach Holocaust education interdepartmentally. Registration is free for schools. Contact us for the code to register.
No matter how you participate, you’re encouraging fitness while raising money for Holocaust education and bringing awareness to this important topic!

Why your support is so important in making a difference...
“Thanks to the Mark Schonwetter Holocaust Education Foundation…books were sent to Yancey County North Carolina. Yancey County, NC, is quite poor and rural. The 88 Club, a notorious Nazi Youth group, actively recruits members from Yancey County. Two classes in the middle school can simultaneously read the book! Your foundation is pushing back against pro-Nazi youth groups and is reaching into Yancey County, NC!!!!”
- Michael Abramson, North Carolina Council on the Holocaust
